    The paintings used in these ads always stretched the apparent length of the car, but this was still a big car--big enough that there were footrests for the back seat. My dad had one of these when I was a kid, and I loved to hear the Hydra-Matic put through its paces. There were also heaters under the front seats to spread warm air evenly throughout the cabin. However, like every other car then, it had vacuum windshield wipers. On acceleration the wipers would quit, then flail madly back and forth when the driver let off on the gas....

    bladewcal ...we had those vacuum wipers on the '49 Buick....once they went so fast they flew off...we never found it.
