Te Deum Laudo!
"For thou didst form my inward parts,
thou didst knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise thee, for thou art fearful and wonderful.
Wonderful are thy works!
Thou knowest me right well;
my frame was not hidden from thee,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately wrought in the depths of the earth.
Thy eyes beheld my unformed substance;
in thy book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them"
- Psalm 139:13-16.
34 years ago today, I was born into this world!
For the gift of life, and all his blessings, I thank the Lord who created me, and holds me in being. And I implore his grace upon my parents, and on all those who have cared for me, and who continue to sustain me with their goodness and prayers.
This 9th century mosaic is from the apse of Santa Maria in Domnica in Rome. The donor, Pope Paschal I is shown kneeling at the feet of Our Lady, who support the Christ Child. On either side of them, a host of angels stand in adoration.
