Toffee Factory chimney

"Toffee Factory, as one of the newest venues to join in The Late Shows, will turn its distinctive 30 metre high chimney into a giant glowstick, the symbol of Newcastle and Gateshead’s after hours culture crawl."

Newcastle’s newest space for creative business, Toffee Factory, is set to be a successful cornerstone of the Ouseburn valley’s business network. The building dates from late Victorian times, and it really was Maynards toffee factory, although it was long abandoned and falling derelict after a fire in the 1980s. There's a bit more background and you can see what it looked like a couple of years ago here: www.flickr.com/photos/pauljw/4398443611/
