Baby shake your tail feathers !!

    Newer Older

Another day sat in a hide waiting for Kingfishers was destined for disappointment until the local Grey Wagtail (Motacilla cinerea) population stepped in to take the limelight.

This is the full frame image of one of the stars of the day taking off after posing for me, I think it is a female but am open to correction if anyone can correct me and give me a definitive way of telling apart from my own "I'm fairly sure the males have black throats and the females have white..." :-D

The extra bonus with this capture is that although it is not pin sharp due to the poor light levels today causing me to underestimate the required ISO for this particular perch, there was actually a feeble shaft of light that in the gloom almost makes it look as if the bird is performing under a spotlight (and no - it isn't photoshopped!!!)

    As usual all comments welcome...
