"Memorial Day 2009"

I was honored to receive a request from Leonardo B. a gentleman in Portugal, to post on his blog with a poem he wrote, inspired by this picture.

A translation is provided below as is a link to the blog.

“If I walk, so much I move away

and so much I was ordered to the silence

I will not bother the shadow of the morning

that there is somewhat, just now, it was invented for the world.

If I walk, so much I approach

of the hand that could compose the short cuts,

the used calmness where I wake my step

the small tracing from this tower into the sky, the tree

which cries an unstable blow, the leaf, the very little skin

what is detained lifted, on air

in the short corner of the house where it wakes the star;

And if I stop, I’m from the world, the leaf of paper,

the voice that is clarified, clearly, the detail and

If I walk, I am, drawned

and I wake the horizon where nothing is definite,

where in the world, the centre is here or there,

and the whole is a thing what so much it does,

and it does make sense,

also the highest of the places can be deep

and here, where I advance it so many, what I move away

I bringing myself back to the shadow that waited for it so much in the morning

that there is somewhat, such a little, before the star

one more beginning was still of the world.

If I walk,

so many what was I, would it happens again.”
