The Blue Lagoon

"All we need, really, is a change from a near frigid to a tropical attitude of mind." ~ Marjory Stoneman Douglas

This is a food landscape I created for "Get Pushed" round 16 as sort of a 'vice versa' challenge with push partner Mimo. When she issued my challenge for a levitation selfie, she mentioned that it was something she'd been wanting to do herself so we made a deal to each do our own challenge - the one we gave in addition to the one we received. If you haven't met Mimo yet, I recommend going over for a visit. Her work is special in that she makes quality and poignant photographs of the world around her, wherever she may travel. Her commentary is touching, and educational in a journalistic style. I'm pleased to have had the chance to work with Mimo again in 'Get Pushed'

About this image: The challenge was to create an image inspired by the well known food landscape photographer Carl Warner. He creates his scenes entirely out of food items and comprises his images out of layer composites in post processing. This is one shot however, of a set that I crafted with full intentions to add more in photoshop but I was happy with it as it turned out, even though I've not come close to the amazing work Carl Warner does.

Try viewing on black...it really pops

Crazy push, and incredibly creative response. I thought it was a real landscape until I looked closer. The lifesaver on the fence is the perfect final touch. Great work!

Brilliantly done! It must have taken some time to set up. On the other hand, you have to be quick so the celery doesn't get limp.

Wonderfully creative work here, Patti. It sure fooled me from the thumbnail view, I really did think you had found yourself a real blue lagoon. Splendid response to your push which in my view is very well met. :>)

this is SO very, very creative. i love that you used oatmeal for the sand. i mean, it's really so well thought out - every bit of it. how long did it take to build?

      thank you so very much!!
it did take me a while to set up, I think about two hours to build and arrange it. i used wet floral foam and presoaked the vegetables so they'd be nice and fresh looking. the celery stayed straight for the duration of the project
