Beautiful photo. But the map data leaves me wondering: where's "Sabina-Mattfeldt?" I worked in Baltimore's City Hall for two years, and I've never heard that one.
  • Patrick 4y

    Thanks very much everyone!!

@ Ian P. Hines - Thanks! Yeah, that's a good question. I have to say that I don't always understand the flickr map feature, when it comes to naming the locations where I geotag shots. If you click on the map, you can see that it's Roland Park. I'm usually pretty good about getting the locations of my shots to be fairly close (within the equivalent of a block or so) and I'm not sure what happened in this case. Maybe Sabina-Mattfeldt is the next great unknown Baltimore neighborhood that is just waiting to be discovered! ;)

Well, I find that even if I'm absolutely certain where the photo was taken (or, better yet, use a GPS exif tagger), I'm still often baffled by the "neighborhood" Flickr assigns to the photo.

I particularly find it odd in Annapolis, where all of downtown/historic Annapolis is tagged as "Bloomsbury Square," which is a public housing community nearby. With those photos I manually modify the "named" location to simply say "Annapolis."

    so nice, great bokeh
  • Patrick 4y

@ Ian P. Hines - That's interesting. I didn't know you could manually modify the names location. How do you do that exactly? I was fiddling around just now but couldn't figure it out. Thanks.

@patrickjoust - It's not too difficult. Click the name of the location on the sidebar ("This photo was taken in October 2010 in Sabina-Mattfeldt, Baltimore, MD, US."). That will raise the map. You'll see the photo contained in a comment bubble, and above it should be a link that says "Edit Location." Click that. You'll see a couple of drop-down menus: one for location name, and one for privacy level.
  • Patrick 4y

Yeah, that isn't bad at all. Very cool!! I'm glad you asked about that neighborhood. It will be nice to be able to have a more accurate location from now on. Thanks again!
  • Ian P. Hines 4y

    No problem!
