I think it's time the roomate found another vegan to live with. Since the vegan can "no longer tolerate" your choices of food, it becomes the vegan's choice as where they should live. Either they tolerate your choice in food or they go elsewhere and tolerate someone else's food. Trust me, vegans are the worst when they've got that defending persecuted animals mindset going. It's like a broken record with them. Do the right thing: cook up a slab of ribs in the stove one night. And if they give you grief, show them what the door outside looks like. Also remind them that you are not particularly fond of the nutso religon they follow and would they please stay away from you before you call the cops on them for being a marginal sociopath and making you fear for your life.

I don't understand how you can associate eating meat with child abuse... Yes, I can see the way we farm animals as a form of abuse, but that's the way the world has grown to be. We have teeth to eat meat, its the way we were made. But animal abuse is not the same as child abuse... Animals are not on the same level as human beings... plain and simple.

Not eating meat is a decision. Eating meat is an instinct.

I'm a vegan, and I would never do something so asshole-y as that. Really, I choose to eat this way as much for health as for animal rights - and that's just what it is, a choice. It's my choice, not your choice, and as with anything else, I'm not going to shove it at you. If people ask - and only if they ask - I'll tell them why I eat vegan, but other than that, I see no reason to rub it in anyone's face.

LOL, eating meat vs. child abuse. This chick is batshit. As with any group, the batshit people are the ones society sees...and with vegans, batshit usually means self righteous prick. We normal vegans hate them too, trust me.

I'm vegetarian myself, so I guess this girl would liken me to a child abuser as well for taking milk in my moring tea and enjoying a cheese & tomato toastie. I also love her latest escapade of getting a cat and not doing any research before purchasing the poor animal and no doubt inflicting a vegan diet on the thing for several weeks before only now realising that the creature cannot share her diet - hence forth the animal must go and it's all her flat mate's fault for not knowing anyone who wants to rehome a cat. What a lunatic.

I am also a vegan, and if I were in your shoes, I would probably smack this woman and then ask her to move out!

Unlike this fanatic, I am really not that interested in convincing other people that I am right. I do think there are several good arguments for why a vegan diet is an excellent choice, but I do not feel compelled to control others' behavior in that regard. True, I would prefer not to be sharing a kitchen with someone who is cooking meat all the time, but that is up to me to decide if I can live with it--not the other person.

Hopefully, your angry roommate has moved out of your life and is not plotting to suicide bomb some factory farm in the near future.

      Q. How do you know when someone is vegan? A. Don't worry, they'll f*cking tell you.
