The Scary Seas of Gwaii Haanas
We were motoring down to the very southern tip of Gwaii Haanas in the Queen Charlotte Islands to see the mortuary and frontal poles. The waves were scary high as we moved out of the shelter of the archipelago and almost into the Pacific. We were in a zodiac. But we made it to Ninstints, the heritage UNESCO area. I think the date was 21 May 1996. My travel article on this trip was published in 1997 in London Free Press and Victoria Times-Colonist.
I used this photo to create this image of the seas contained.
