Khmer Yagit 10

'Khmer Yagit'

(Khmer Street Children)

Poverty is a thief that robs children of their youth. It forces them to accept and face grim realities that normally confront adults, such as finding a means to survive and earning a livelihood. Children are not supposed to carry such burdens which create lasting and often irreversible physical, emotional, and physiological damage. This is a common occurrence on the streets of Cambodia, where children can often be found peddling wares or begging to survive. These children are losing their childhood to the much more powerful forces of poverty.
