At the Animalympics - "100 metres freestyle waterwalk has Strider in lane four half a lap ahead of Skater in lane five"
Vedanthangal may be famoud for birds but that is not all that it has. There are so many other creatures. I even found Laser's cousins!
One of the most interesting creatures is this Water Strider. There are few insects and spiders that can do this trick we can only fantasize about. They walk on water, literally.
While I know that it is the surface tension which is responsible for holding them up on water - they must have some wateraversive coating on their legs and being small and lightwieght the must have an optimal ratio of volume to surface area - how do they move on water and control the direction as there is very little friction.
These creatures move pretty fast too. They must be a good area for study.
