I'll bet if you tapped on his nose he would open his eyes. Great low angle shot Pam, great feeling of being on the beach.

Kevin, there's some saying somewhere that goes something like, "Don't wake a sleeping giant..... " ;)

Sleep is blissful, what do you think? One good snort is all I want to see. I hope you cleaned off the mud and sand after you were on your belly taking this one! :-)

Kevin, if you tapped his nose, you'd be "toast". These guys may look big and lethargic, but they can MOVE when they want to. When they start opening their eyes and "snuffling" and especially if they raise up, it's time to back off quickly. Nice "too close for comfort" shot.

Anita, given that I had my 70 - 200 zoomed all the way in, I wasn't as close as it appears in this image. Additionallly, I cropped quite a bit, which gives it an even closer appearance. Trust me, after having lived in Alaska and mingled with the grizzlies, I wouldn't push my luck on getting too close to wildlife.

Pam, beautiful shot. He looks so peaceful asleep. How much sand on your belly?
