Belle Glade Welding Students' Sculpture Project
Students in the Belle Glade campus Welding program have created a sculpture for Glades Central High School. Standing nearly 11 feet tall and weighing about 1,000-pounds, the sculpture took several months to complete. The photos are arranged in the order of the creative process, from start to finish. The sculpture symbolizes the school's AVID program and will be placed in the student garden at Glades Central. AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness program for all students, especially those traditionally underrepresented in higher education. Adopted by more than 6,000 schools in 47 states, AVID complements the curriculum by teaching skills that students can use to succeed at any level of school, college, or in a career.
