Pulling up a former ACL mainline to downtown St. Pete in 2012 (Part 2 of 3)

Looking east down First Avenue South toward downtown St. Petersburg. This line, double tracked at this point, once ran past a large freight depot at Eighth Street and down to the passenger depot at Third Street (where the tall building stands today). Before 1947, this track also extended out to the South Mole and onto the old rail pier. The men are cutting up the track into 17-foot sections for recycling. Courtesy Tom Pavluvcik
