VW Beetle Minihome

I recently stumbled across a model of a VW beetle that was turned into a motorhome in a local toy store. Since I love the Lego VW Beetle (#10252) I instantly knew I had to build a Lego version of it.

The instructions on how to build a motorhome out of a real VW Beetle were published in june 1977 in a magazine called "Mechanix Illustrated" and can still be purchased here.

My Lego version was built in almost the same way. I took the chassis and front of the #10252 with only some minor modifications and replaced the rest of the body with the motorhome. There's a bed above the driver seats that can be pulled out. The table leg can be removed and the tabletop can be used to build a second bed behind the driver seats. The cabinet and the drawers on the left and right side of the back window are fully functional. Only the drawers under the sink and hot plates can't be opened.
