1208_0185 The grip
I have a lot of dragonflies in my collection, which doesn't mean I have exhausted the photo possibilities. On the contrary, it frees me up to look a little deeper into my subject. For example, here I was struck by the tenacity of its grip on the lone green stalk. Mostly dormant in the early morning dew, it was not about to fly away, so I had time to really look, and set up my shots. I included all six of its legs here to show the grip, anchoring a vertical shot on the green stalk, just as the dragonfly had anchored itself the night before. Grasslands National Park, Saskatchewan.
