35792 Cougar Valley

Near Rogers Pass in Glacier National Park, British Columbia, Cougar Valley offers some enticing hiking possibilities. The park has an extraordinary trail system that is ideal for day hikers, often leading to spectacular viewpoints. Hazards include bears and avalanches. These are not the Rockies, but rather the Selkirk Mountains - part of a chain that includes the Purcells, the Monashees, and the Cariboo, together forming the Columbia Mountains. Got that? The main thing to remember is they are west of the Rockies, much, much older than the Rockies, and far less crowded with visitors.
