1110_0037 Sandhill Cranes in migration

Two days ago the sky over Val Marie, Saskatchewan, filled with the raucous cries of thousands of Sandhill Cranes, heading south. Wave after wave of migrating cranes! They are returning from their breeding grounds in central and northern Saskatchewan, probably heading for the Platte River in Nebraska, and beyond that, perhaps New Mexico. Ancient migration. The numbers are down, but it remains a thrill to see them...
