1811_1648 Great Horned Owl
Minutes after sunrise, I found this owl roosting in a cottonwood tree. The light, at first pink, was shifting into oranges and yellows, which I liked, but the shadows falling across my subject were less than ideal. Oh, well. At least they would suggest concealment. I had to move in fairly close to get a clear shot, and at first I feigned disinterest. By the end I was talking to him, or her: "Don't fly away. I'm not going to bother you. In fact I'm just about to leave." It didn't fly away, and I left. Perfect. Except for those shadows.
