Serpentine Stream, Three Sisters Wilderness, Oregon.
Serpentine Stream, Three Sisters Wilderness, Oregon. This summer, I went on a backpacking trip with some new and old friends in the Three Sisters Wilderness Area, near my hometown of Bend, Oregon. Because snow levels were low, even in late July, we spent the first two days of the trip hiking along the PCT on solid snow. While pretty, the snow did not cooperate for photos and frankly it was exhausting and not what my visitors had in min d for a summer back packing trip. We changed our route and went off trail( not that we had any idea where the trail was!) and lost elevation. We were generously rewarded by lush green wildflower filled meadows and gorgeous mountain streams. This was my favorite stream of the trip and it helped to make everything worthwhile for me and my back packing friends. I lugged my 4x5 camera, several heavy lenses, and a burly tripod and the rest of my camping gear for days through the snow and this is what I got. I think it was worthwhile, but you can help be the judge! For more information about this image, please visit www.mikeputnamphoto.com
