DPS Book Depository Interior HDR

    Newer Older

By far my most viewed photo at this point, for obvious reasons, I guess....

I've been traveling since 6:00 Barcelona time. It is now something like 11:00 EST. By my watch it's 22 hours in airports or airplanes. The cat is glad that we're home. The burrito I just ate is more food than 6 hours at a tapas bar could put in me. My pillowcases don't have openings at both ends. I can eat vegetables here. English isn't pretty, but at least I can find the bathrooms.

Sadly, it is not 72 degrees with a 99.9% chance of a moped accident here in Ann Arbor. The sidewalks are cracked and concrete rather than gorgeous tile. Albert Kahn's architecture isn't nearly as flashy as Gaudi's. People move around too fast here. The customs agents took my sausage. Starbucks's espresso tastes like what I'd get if I cleaned my oven and took the soot and mixed it with water. Tomorrow I'll have to start driving a car again.

Here's some Detroit HDR'y goodness for now, before I start posting spain pictures. Not quite the Sagrada Familia, but it'll do. Interior of the detroit public schools book depository, designed by Kahn. 5 exposures.

i tried several times today to get in there. sealed as a mofo. or maybe i just missed it.

Since this it may be much more sealed up. Funny how that goes. Half the buildings in the city are wide open, and the two coolest (DPS book depository and Mich. Central Station) are sealed up tight.

I'm a fan of the auto plants. Packard and Fisher 21 both have some amazing spots.

train station and packard were awesome. almost did the depository but since we had a close call at the train station we decided to leave it for next trip. i will be so sad when i leave. coming back within the next 4 weeks.

i will post some photos from my trip soon. i had a blast. thanks for all the friendliness!

Nice one. You've got an impressive collection of work here, especially the urbex stuff. Good use of HDR too. It's tricky in those abandoned buildings to avoid the blown out windows, even with HDR...but you've handled it well here. Just the right amount of processing.

finally settled into detroit, but still haven;t done the depository. its killing me. if you ever wanna go again, let me know. most of my friends refuse due to the situation over there. only person i could get to go with me was a homeless dude in the neighborhood, and though i like him, that's not smart.
