Buildings and roads washed away, floods in Uttarkashi, India. June 2013

Floods in Uttarakhand, India, have severely damaged at least 75 villages. Oxfam's local partners have estimated that 400 villages across Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Tehri regions have been washed away, submerged or otherwise affected.

Oxfam India has announced an immediate emergency relief response in the flood affected areas of Uttarakhand. They are providing humanitarian assistance, including fleece blankets as well as dry food rations to those hit the worst and people without shelter. Oxfam is coordinating our efforts with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and through our partners in the affected areas.
