Flooding in tented settlement in Jordan

Tented settlement in Jawa in the outskirts of Amman, a

day after a mere one hour of rainfall flooded large sections of

the camp. Families were frantically digging channels in the soil

in a desperate bid to divert the flow of rainwater (mixed with

sewage from nearby makeshift toilets) away from their tents.

Oxfam will be helping refugees living in tented settlement

through the distribution of blankets and plastic sheeting to help

protect the tents better from the rain and snow.

As of the end of November 2012, some 2.2 millions people have fled the violence in Syria, for neighboring countries.
