Outwood Post Mill was designed to be operated by one man working alone.

To this end when Outwood Mill was built the incorporated every labour saving device they could into the technology and mechanisms of the Mill at Outwood Common.

This image shows part of the sack pulley system inside Outwood Windmill used to both raise sacks of grain to the bin floor of Outwood Mill and lower sacks of finished flour from the Meal floor to the Roundhouse of Outwood Common Windmill.
