Oswego Canal
For close to a century, the Oswego branch of the Erie Canal ran adjacent to the Oswego River and was an important waterway for trade. Only remnants of that canal still exist. Today, the Oswego River is part of the New York State Canal System and the Erie Canalway national Heritage Corridor. It is still used extensively for pleasure boating, canoeing, and fishing.
