Apple 1 (Replica)

The original Apple 1 did not include a case, nor a keyboard. Purchasers had to fabricate or buy their own, leading to many different designs. Recently an Apple 1 sold at auction for $250k, so they have upgraded the case with a lock.

A little correction: this is the Mimeo-1 Apple 1 REPLICA that is so authentic that many folks "accidentally" sell them as originals. Corey Cohen and his son built this, fabricating the plastic case himself. He used authentic chips with the proper date-codes so it's absolutely faithful to the original.

I'll add to that. This unit is the first Mimeo-1 that my son and I built. This one is pretty close to the original but I didn't date code match a lot of chips, though they are vintage chips.

It is locked up because even as a recreation they are quite expensive with many unobtainium parts and have a lot of hours in them. This one is on extended loan to MARCH/VCF.

At the show I displayed one that is nearly identical to an original with date correct chips and even the exact sockets that Apple used for the chips. Only an expert can tell the difference.
That one is in the flame bent plexi-glass case that I was displaying.

I wouldn't bring a real one out in public. Most of those boards are kept locked away as they are worth as much as some people's houses or at least a nice Ferrari ;-)

The one from the show can be viewed at myapplecomputer.net/VCF_EAST_RAW/DSC_0107.JPG

    Cheers,
    Corey
