Thursday September 2nd 2010 Chick 11 in Portugal

Well done Chick 11. Figueira da Foz or the ‘River’s Mouth Opening’ would sound to be a place made for Ospreys because the shallow estuarine waters mean both fresh and salt water fish can be caught. At the moment the mullet are running so there is a lot of food which makes it a favourite stop off point for migrating birds. Day time temperature here in September is about 22 degrees so over the 29th and 31st 11 has just been flying in lazy squares, probably from palm tree to palm tree.
