Joy to the World
Gerard Valck's 1695 Novus planiglobii terrestris, mapped to the intersection of six cylinders, using (of course) a cylindrical projection. Well, six different cylindrical projections, but it was all the same map. A flattened version, here.
This model takes advantage of the developable surface, in that the paper and the projection only curve one way at any time. The paper is 60 lb. parchment, a little heavy, but thin enough to have six pieces meet. Light cardstock doesn't do that joint well.
This might make for an interesting slide-together, though I think the cuts would need to be curved.
A PDF for the intrepid, Not recommended for cutting by hand. (The last page is a mask that can be exported to a cutting program.)
