Crater Lake - Landmannalaugar area, Iceland
The unusually snowy central highlands of Iceland are now slowly opening again for traffic. The snowy winter along with a very cold spring and early summer means that there is still alot of snow there and still mostly closed. Landmannalaugar is no exception. There is only one short stretch of road open there now. It will still be a 2-3 weeks until all the roads in the area are open. Until then hiking is a good option.
But having alot of snow on the ground and mountains creates interesting contrast with the otherwise dark landscape.
