Octopus - Kamiya

    Newer Older

Tried my hand at folding Satoshi Kamiya's octopus from various pictures on the web. This paper is the same as the kind I used for my Triceratops, it's pretty, but doesn't shape all that well.

    Designed by: Satoshi Kamiya
Folded from: one 12.5" square of accordion paper

well, judging from this picture, the head comes out of the center of the paper, creasing the diagonal and horizontals, then bisecting those angles 2 times maybe. I'm tired so i can't think now.

i think it may be a frog base with grafts. i don't know. soo tired.

well, Kamiya taught this Octopus at MFPP france convention in 2004. So my guess is that or there is either a photodiagram or diagram for it. Or even better, this is the model for the new edition of the special edition of JOAS magazine (the one that comes out once a year; only members can get a hold to it ). By the way, great model as always Shuki =)

What is the base like? Ot is it a simple frog base?

Sure, I'd like to see it. The one thing I know I didn't fold the same is the webbing between the arms.

Base is octagon with cross with parts divide on 4th parts .

i was thinking something like that.
you can see the divisions in this picture

      ORU Folding Diagrams vol.2
      has a very similar model
that plus other octo designs and your own shaping
      can make that easily

Well there was cp in kamiyas collections, look like you have it down . (Correct he also taught it in the French convention when he was there in 04). Folded it few years ago, but couldn't get past the shaping. His other older model I wanted to try was his Scarecrow from Wizard of oz
      in TV Champ.
