Bicycling: New Computer for the Orcicletta
[F094013] I had just been to the bike shop to add panniers to the orcicletta. And on my very next ride, the last for August, I found that the cadence meter wasn't working on my old Schwinn computer, the one that is in Metric and that I can no longer find instructions for.
So I peddled back t the shop and replaced the computer, rather than bother with having the loosened sensor remounted.
I now have instructions (although when I took this photo the computer is showing 0 kph and a distance from the shop of 2.85 km. The computer is now set to British units.
Until I got home and I recorded the trip in my cycling log, I didn't realize that the new computer does not store average and maximum cadence. That's disappointing, but I can live with it.
Although there is too much glare on the face of the computer, I love the color gradations and the effect of late-afternoon light in this photograph. The cable you see is actually an obstruction in watching the computer while I am riding. Something I have to figure a way around. There's some room for moving the computer on the handlebar, but not much.
One final advantage of my unexpected detour. I was able to talk to the bike-shop manager about rides and paths in the area and availability of the city and county urban cycling paths.
