    "We come in pieces!"
For the record: the saucer shape is based on the outer surface of this sphere/globe: www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=40018, reduced to 1/3-height.
For now it is just a hollow shell; it will eventually have a cockpit, living space, etc etc.

I'm strangley drawn to this, just cant stop coming back to it! :) Maybe its the cheesy old space film vibe?...whatever it is, I think its actually the first build I have seen in 40 years to make me actually want to regress, pick it up and "play" with it! Really superb, everything is just right.

Thanks for all the lovely comments. I hope to show the completed interior sometime soon, but have other things on my mind first.
Note also the acknowledgement of 'prior art' added to the description - it's amazing how good an ellipsoid you get when you squash a sphere!
