Adult Male Platycryptus undatus Jumping Spider (With Video!)

I realize this species may not be a new sight for everyone as I've posted a few portaits before - but I just can't pass up a chance to photograph a male Platycryptus when I find one! Additionally, this guy was in immaculate shape with almost perfect markings and hair - quite a healthy robust specimen - he was a lot of fun to handle and photograph, if a bit uncooperative - but that's certainly nothing new for me.


Although this species can be quite common in my area, they are sometimes difficult to spot on the bark of trees due to their markings (check out the shots below!)


The shot above is a crop from a photo taken with my vintage 1960's Pentax Asahi Takumar 50mm f/1.4 prime reversed on extension tubes.
