The Sunship at midnight
Explore #57 August 24 2010.
The large metal sculpture Sólfarið ('Sunship') in Reykjavik, Iceland, is one of the most iconic pieces of public art in the city, reminiscent of the viking ships that brought the original settlers to the country. Here the sculpture is seen at midnight in August, when the night never becomes quite dark, only lit by the lights from the city behind it.
I was up late during my last visit to Reykjavik on this beautiful still August night, and decided to dash downtown and visit the sculpture just to practice my long-exposure night photography.
