Snuff-box Tree - Snuifkalbassie

This is one of my favourite trees. There were nicer flower to photograph but they were too high up and I could not reach them.

It is also called the African Dog-rose, Matoetsi, Matutsi and Fried Egg Flower Tree.

The fruit consists of a incredible hard shell and in the old days a small hole was made on one end. All the seeds were then removed through the hole and the shell was used as a snuf box with a plug (usually wooden) in the hole!
