The electricity supply here was interrupted by a windstorm, at about 6:15 PM (Dec 14). I put on my raincoat, Wellingtons, and a yellow vest, and went out, just like a common carbon tax protester, to have a look around. I walked around the building, and finding no damage, continued into the neighborhood. A tree had fallen a few blocks to the east, and the police were already on the scene. I concluded the outage was likely to last several hours. Back home I lit a candle and settled down for the kind of long dark evening our ancestors must have enjoyed, with a beverage that went well with cheese & crackers, and a book.
