Galveston Bay Panorama

This is another view of the spectacular sunset we had in Houston a couple weeks ago. This is a big view made with six individual photos and stitched together in Photoshop.

The Barbour's Cut Container Terminal at Morgan's Point is on the far right. The city of La Porte is in the middle and about 1/3 from the leftt you can see the container cranes at Bayport. The field of view is about 160 degrees.

A lot of people think this is hard to do and a tripod and special equipment is necessary. Actually this was handheld. I made sure the horizon was pretty much in the same place in every frame and made sure I overlapped each frame by about half. Don't use a really wide angle lens - this was a 35mm and that's about as low as I go usually. In Photoshop the menu choices are File->Automate->Photomerge. Sometimes it's the only way to get an entire shot.
