Bass guitar waveform G2

    An electric bass playing G2 open string (97.9 Hz). There are lots of zero-crossings per cycle, so thats not a good way to estimate frequency.

      What happens, though, if you filter out everything above 400Hz?

      That probably wouldn't change it much. According to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_guitar_tuning the highest open string is 98 Hz. If you low-pass filtered at 100 Hz, you would get a sine wave from this string, but the lowest strings would still have harmonics present.
