You gonna take me out?

This is Sammy. He died in 2006 at a ripe old age of 16 (over 100 in human years?). Mentally he was still puppy like, could catch like first baseman, had tricks up his sleeve we didn't even know about (he was given to us at age 4), and thought he was a 10 lb lapdog. At the end his eyesight was going, he could walk no more than a few blocks without stopping for a rest, had trouble getting up the stairs, even the front 3 steps of the house, and was having the seizures. We put him to rest when the cost when the cost of treatment didn't make sense for a 16 year old dog, and would only prolong his discomfort.

Beautiful animal. Your words made me teary because my dog is getting that way - he too is old, hurts to walk when it is cold, struggles up stairs & too big for me to lift. I know it is only time before I have to make the "decision".
May you have long memories of a wonderful friend.
