View from my cabin, ICL Independent Accord, Port of Liverpool, 5 August 2011

Day 1: up at 6am, skyped Maureen, my parents gave me a lift to Manningtree, I caught a train to London, caught buses to Euston, caught a train to Liverpool, caught a train to Seaforth, bought snacks at Lidl, wandered up to the port entrance, was allowed in, wandered around aimlessly, a man with a walkie talkie beckoned to me, I was told to wait by a security hut for about twenty minutes, then I was driven in a van to the gangplank, I then climbed aboard the ICL Independent Accord with my bags, signed in and handed over my passport, met the third officer and the ship's agent, and then the steward took me up to my cabin where I both napped and watched the ship being unloaded/loaded - this is something I've only ever seen from across the River Orwell back home! This picture was taken while the ship was berthed at the Port of Liverpool.
