February 2, 2006 — After about 10 years of thinking about it (I make purchasing decisions on a very slow time frame), I finally broke down and bought a Holga. I've never shot 120 film before, so I'm curious to see how my shots turn out. I've already identified a couple of things I'm going to have to keep an eye on while I was shooting my first roll on the way to work:
1) Don't forget to take the lens cap off (the viewfinder is separate from the lens so you can't tell by what you see if the cap is on or not).
2) Don't forget to advance the film immediately after taking a shot (the shudder isn't linked with the film advance so double exposures are all too likely).
3) NEVER leave the exposure switch on "B" (manual shudder release for long exposures).
I don't have high hopes for this first roll, but it's a learning process isn't it?
