The Wall of Fire
Miramar Airshow - Twilight Show - 2011
The Wall of the fire explodes behind the Blue Angels.
The anticipation of the shot what a bit nerve racking as the crowd counted down from 10. In my head, I was thinking if I should replace my 24-70 to my 10-22mm however with the seconds counting down, I knew there wasn't enough time. So with my camera in "bulb" (forgetting that), I waited, and once the explosion occur, snap, snap, snap, snap. I knew the first show in the series was overblown because in that split second I realized that I forgot to change my setting and I held the remote shutter button too long for the bright explosion. However afterwards, I just pushed, pushed, and pushed. And the above image is the result of one of them.
Side note: I was able to capture this image because of the courtesy of George's Camera (www.georgescamera.com) and Sony teaming up to provided some VIP tickets to the airshow all for free. :)
