MAKING A PIT STOP AT THE TANGERINE TOILET in IZUMI VILLAGE, NORTHERN OKINAWA

This lovely little loo of a latrine sits back in bushes along Route 84, in the mountain village of IZUMI.

Just 200 meters away is the OKINAWA BOTTLERS Company, which keeps Okinawa's vending machines filled with all kinds of UCC COFFEE, our own RYUKYU "HARD SPARK" COLA, and over 80 other varieties of bottled soft drinks, Jasmine Tea, Shii-Kwaa-Saa juice, and even (horror of horrors) plain mineral water !

 

No wonder we need to make a pit stop at the TANGERINE TOILET.
