Montreal - Place Vauquelin: Eruption

A colorfully lit fountain in Place Vauquelin in Old Montreal. The statue in this square is of Jean Vauquelin, commander of the French fleet in New France; he stares across rue Notre-Dame at his counterpart, the English admiral Horatio Nelson (pictured). The two statues are symbols of Montréal's French and British duality.
