~Enallagma cyathigerum~

A male Common Blue Damselfly in all his glory, I decided to use a diffused flash for this one, so I had my camera set in manual, the shutter speed at 1/200, aperture F/8 and ISO 400, the flash was off camera set on TTL with -1 1/3 compensation, quite pleased with the results, it has really made this little guy stand out and also produced a pleasing bokeh. Had forgotten how tricky these are to get close to, even with a 100mm :o)

I really must get around to doing some portraits, these guys were a bit too active this afternoon, but I was quite pleased with the sudden rise in numbers, there were lots of Common Blues and Blue-tailed Damselflies, also lots of Banded Demoiselles around as well. I did spend a good 30mins sheltering under a bridge as a thunder storm went by :o)
