Pineapple

    Newer Older

The pineapple has long been a symbol of hospitality. I loved that it was used here as a door knocker. A beautiful detail seen in Elfreth's Alley, the oldest residential street in America.

aha! I thought immediately of a crown thistle--an thoroughly obnoxious plant that I'm battling at my rural property. So similar and so different from the welcoming pineapple.

Love that background red and lighting here. Rare to find this in Philadelphia ( as I recall)... much more common in New England and the south.. Nicely photographed.
