Don't hate me because I'm beautiful!
Mom wanted B&W portraits of all her boys. After doing the formals, I let my hair down (so to speak) with some self portraits. I set everything up, but my brother pulled the trigger for me.
This was my first experience with a studio-like home brew flash setup. Main light was an on-camera Speedlight 430EX bounced off a reflector (windshield sun shade) hanging from a tripod 45 degrees to camera right. Side light was from a 60W incandescent shop light 90 degrees to camera left at about chest height. The raw color version shows scary white balance differences. Thank goodness for monochrome.
The shot was slightly sharpened and uniformly brightened by about 1 stop, but no localized processing or funky curves manipulation was done.
Shot with my 1967 Asahi/Pentax Super-Takumar 50/1.4 @ f/4 mounted on a Canon 400D.
