Day In The Life Of... Sand Hill Plantation - 21 December 2004

When I left my apartment, the sky was quite blue with an ample number of white clouds. Before I had gotten this far along on my walk, it had begun to cloud over. But just as I passed this clump of trees near Munn Ice Arena, the sun popped out again to provide just enough contrast to the edges of the trees.

To no avail, I tried to switch to a wider lens while I had the light – as quickly as it came, it went.

This was taken from the east side of the plantation... here's one from the west side.

This is a great shot. There aren't trees like that where I live.

This is a really beautiful shot.

Thanks, codeFin and em. I have walked by and through this group of trees many times over the last ten years and each time have hoped to find the right view to photograph them. There are a number of lights that line the sidewalk which cuts through the trees that I've wanted to avoid (I've tagged a couple that are in this shot but somewhat obscured). I was very fortunate to have caught this at just the right time.

Oh my goodness. I don't think I would have seen them had you not pointed them out. At least with the smaller versions we see here on the net.

Still an excellent photo. Isn't it interesting how you can walk by something nearly every day, and struggle to find the angle/time that works?

SUCH a striking image! I forgot to do a day-in-the-life on the 21st, but as the day has special meaning to me, am enjoying seeing others' views...

Thanks, Laura... I hope that it was a good day for you!
