This alley runs between Utah Street (the street I lived on as a kid) and Clark Street in Toledo... I always imagined the church (Good Shepherd, where I went to school/church) as the Capital building, the alley being a less than glamourous version of Pennsylvania Avenue, I guess.
I made a very brief visit to my old neighbourhood while I was in town last weekend, just getting a glimpse of how rundown it has become... quite a sad sight, actually.
We spent many a day and night in this alley... playing round-up at night or climbing garages or fruit trees. I don't think many of the fruit trees are still around. I don't recall seeing the apricot tree that I think was just this side of the yellow garage on the left. Where that truck sets is about where I stepped on a nail while playing round-up with my older brother Mike and his friends. It hurt. It was rusty. I had to get tetanus shots and I recall having to keep my foot in a plastic bag for a week or two for some reason.
