This was the inaugural national USAR dog assessment held in Palmerston North. It was only open to North Island dogs.

Only dog dog became operational- Rachel Heywood (Hume) and Gin.

A significant day in the development of a USAR search dog capability in New Zealand.

This was the first and only USAR search dog assessment conducted by Ian Craig as he passed away 3 days later having been the main driver and developer of the standard and NZ USAR dogs in general.

Paul George and Jenny Waters were the Police and Vet assessor respectively.
